Case study of PreZero Spain

Advanced technology for Spain’s largest SRF plant

Planta Prezero

Large-scale SRF production with applied technological innovation

Bianna x PreZero Spain

Project details for PreZero Spain

PreZero’s new facility in the Zona Franca is currently Spain’s largest Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) production plant. Designed in collaboration with Bianna as the technology partner, it represents an ambitious circular economy project with more than €24 million in investment (€42 million including the adjacent biomethane project). Its aim is to provide an outlet for industrial waste fractions that do not have a conventional recycling route, avoiding mass landfilling and transforming them into high value-added alternative fuel. In addition, the plant stands out for being equipped with an innovative Digital Twin with augmented reality and artificial intelligence.

  • Plant area 7,068 m²
  • Treatment capacity 190,000 tonnes per year of industrial waste
  • Waste type (MBT) Material recovery (sorting and recovery) and energy recovery (preparation of waste for SRF and biomethanisation)
  • Fuel type (TVS) Non-hazardous industrial waste and commercial reject fractions that do not have a conventional recycling route
  • Recovery Recyclable materials + SRF
