Bianna’s ballistic separator is an advanced solution based on an inclined ramp of perforated longitudinal slats. Thanks to an oscillatory movement generated by transverse crankshafts, the equipment subjects the material to a dynamic process that classifies the input stream into three distinct fractions. Its design incorporates a sandwich panel top cover that dampens noise, prevents projections, and ensures a safe and efficient working environment.

Ballistic separators, essential for stream preparation and cleaning
Essential equipment for stream preparation and cleaning in:
- MSW Lines: Separation of organic matter and reject preparation.
- Light Packaging Plants (LPP): Sorting of bottles (3D) versus film and paper (2D).
- Optical Sorter Optimization: Acts as a conditioner, standardizing material distribution to maximize the reading of subsequent optical sorters.

Operation
The SB ballistic separator operates via an inclined ramp with oscillating paddles, driven by two synchronized crankshafts.
The material is deposited onto the moving ramp; rolling elements (3D) bounce toward the lower part of the equipment, while flat elements (2D) are propelled toward the upper discharge. Simultaneously, fines pass through the perforations in the paddles (mechanical screening), aided by vibration that removes organic matter adhesion from recoverable materials. An adjustable ventilation system enhances the separation of the light fraction.

Especificaciones técnicas
Waste input
The solid waste falls onto the paddles to be classified by its size, density, and shape.
Crankshafts
The oscillatory movement generated by the crankshafts allows the separation of the input flow into 3 fractions: rolling, planar, and fines.
Screening paddles
The screening paddles are the mobile elements of the ballistic separator responsible for transporting and classifying the material into 2D and 3D fractions, and allowing fines to pass through their perforations.
Impeller fans
The fan or fans located at the bottom propel air that helps separate the planar and rolling fractions.
2D Fraction - Planar
The planar fraction consists of flat, light, and flexible materials that advance by bouncing on the equipment's paddles towards the upper part of the equipment for discharge.
3D Fraction - Rolling
The rolling fraction, consisting of rigid and three-dimensional materials, rolls due to the inclination and movement of the paddles towards the lower part of the equipment for discharge.
Fines
A fraction of small-sized material that falls through the equipment's perforations during waste separation.
